Lowering the Cost of Living

South Florida has become too expensive for the vast majority of residents. Eliott will focus on the bills families actually pay—housing, insurance, healthcare, groceries, utilities, and transportation. He believes government should help create more competition, increase the supply of housing, and make it easier for working people to get ahead. Eliott’s most immediate priorities upon entering Congress are:

Identifying underused federal land and converting it into affordable mixed-use housing.
Expanding incentives for workforce housing, first-time homeownership, and construction near transit and employment centers.
Creating a preferential interest rate program for public servants, such as teachers, police, firefighters, and sanitation workers.
Pressure the Trump Administration to withdraw from Iran to lower gas prices and negotiate with experts on a nuclear deal.
Enforcing antitrust laws designed to increase competition and drive down consumer costs, particularly in the grocery industry where middlemen are responsible for much of the cost increases.
Pursuing a federal backstop to help stabilize Florida’s catastrophic homeowners-insurance market.
Protecting consumers from price-fixing, hidden fees, and corporate practices that drive up essential costs.

Protecting Medicare, Social Security, and Healthcare

Medicare and Social Security are promises Americans earned through a lifetime of work—not bargaining chips for politicians in Washington. Eliott will oppose efforts to privatize them, cut benefits, raise the retirement age, or shift more healthcare costs onto seniors and working families. Eliott will:

Protect Medicare, Social Security, Medicaid, and Affordable Care Act coverage.
Allow Americans between 55 and 64 to buy into Medicare voluntarily.
Lower prescription-drug costs and strengthen preventive and community-based care.
Ask the wealthiest Americans to contribute more of their income so Social Security remains strong for future generations.

Secure Borders, an Orderly System, and Humane Treatment

America does not have to choose between enforcing its laws and treating people with dignity. Eliott supports a secure border, law and order, faster and more orderly immigration processing, the removal of people who pose genuine threats, and comprehensive reform for immigrants who work, obey the law, and contribute to their communities. Eliott will prioritize:

Increasing border, immigration-court, and asylum-processing capacity so cases are decided promptly.
Protecting Dreamers and providing fair treatment for families with deep roots in America.
Supporting appropriate protections for Venezuelans and Haitians and fair processing for eligible Cubans with unresolved I-220A cases.

Independent Leadership and Real Accountability

Eliott spent nearly five decades asking tough questions and holding powerful people accountable. In Congress, he will answer to the people of South Florida—not party bosses, wealthy donors, corporate interests, or any president. Eliott will work tirelessly to:

Fight corruption, self-dealing, conflicts of interest, and the misuse of public office.
Institute a ban on members of Congress or the Executive Branch trading individual stocks.
Demand transparency in the Epstein investigation and the release of all records the Epstein Files Transparency Act mandated, while protecting victims’ identities.
Support strong ethics rules and meaningful disclosure requirements for members of Congress and senior government officials.
Judge legislation and investigations on the facts, regardless of which party is involved.

Standing Up to Trump and Defending Democracy

No president is above the law. Eliott will stand up to Donald Trump whenever he abuses the power of the presidency, attacks constitutional rights, or puts personal loyalty ahead of the country. He will use Congress’s oversight authority seriously—not as political theater, but as a constitutional responsibility. Eliott will:

Defend free and fair elections, voting rights, an independent judiciary, and the peaceful transfer of power.
Investigate executive misconduct and follow the evidence wherever it leads.
Protect the independence of law enforcement and reject political retaliation against critics.
Reassert Congress’s constitutional authority over spending, war powers, and executive action.

A Strong Economy Built on Fair Competition

Eliott believes in capitalism, entrepreneurship, and the ability of people to build something of their own. His parents were union workers who later became small-business owners, teaching him that workers and businesses succeed together. Government should establish fair rules and keep markets competitive—not attempt to control private companies or choose winners and losers. Eliott will work to:

Oppose the Trump administration’s government acquisition of ownership stakes in private businesses and introduce legislation requiring the government divest those interests in an orderly fashion.
Support small businesses, organized labor, and fair competition.
Create incentives for innovation while still regulating technological sectors that threaten the welfare and safety of everyday Americans.
Require wealthy individuals and large corporations to pay their fair share without punishing ordinary families or legitimate small businesses.

Protecting South Florida’s Environment

For South Florida, protecting the environment is not an abstract ideological issue. It is about clean drinking water, stronger neighborhoods, affordable insurance, protecting the Everglades and Biscayne Bay, and ensuring that future generations can continue to live here. Eliott believes we need to:

Invest in Everglades restoration, clean water, resilient infrastructure, and protection of Biscayne Bay.
Help communities address flooding, extreme heat, stronger storms, and rising insurance costs.
Hold polluters accountable rather than leaving taxpayers to pay for the damage.
Expand cleaner energy while protecting affordability, reliability, and good-paying American jobs.

Strength Abroad, Accountability at Home

America is strongest when it leads with confidence, works with trusted allies, and stands up to dictators. Eliott supports a foreign policy that protects Americans, strengthens democratic alliances, and avoids reckless, open-ended wars. Presidents of either party must come to Congress before committing the country to prolonged military conflict. Eliott will push for the Trump Administration and the next Congress to:

Repair relationships with NATO and other democratic allies while requiring partners to share responsibility.
Outright oppose authoritarian regimes and support democratic nations defending themselves.
Require clear objectives, congressional authorization, appropriate oversight, and a realistic exit strategy before prolonged military action.

Strengthening Labor While Fostering Economic Growth

Eliott is the son of two union workers who went on to own a small business. America needs a strong and economically stable workforce in order to be at its best. When businesses have too much power, income inequality rises and crises, like the economic one we face today, begin to mount. Eliott believes the current path where workers are increasingly powerless is unsustainable. However, Eliott also knows that businesses, especially small businesses, are the reason America thrives. Eliott will push to:

Increase the federal minimum wage.
Have a functioning and balanced National Labor Relations Board that enforces laws to protect workers.
Enact laws that protect government workers, such as the Public Service Freedom to Negotiate Act.
Incentivize businesses to create more high-paying American jobs by providing tax breaks to companies that meet certain wage standards and that do not outsource jobs to other countries.

Common-Sense Gun Safety

Eliott supports common-sense gun safety measures that protect our children and communities while respecting the rights of responsible gun owners. He supports Ethan’s Law to require safe firearm storage and supports restoring a federal ban on assault weapons and high-capacity magazines. He also supports universal background checks to help keep guns out of the hands of people who should not have them.
